Demons
Digital Art on Procreate (2024)
In her book Feeding Your Demons, Tsultrim Allione’s translates a Buddhist meditation practice where one finds, becomes, and feeds their demons. In this sense, these demons are our fears, obsessions or addictions. The following work is inspired by the visions and the feelings I’ve had when I found each demon. “A demon is anything that obstructs the achievement of freedom…. There is no greater devil than this fixation to a self.” -Machig Labdrön
The Content
Ink on paper (2023)
Ingredients:
30 single lines.
30 dots.
Each line is a single stroke of the elbow, lasting from five to fifteen minutes. In some cases, multiple flair pens have been used simultaneously.
Using a surrealist practice, these automatic drawings were created in a meditative state, alongside music.
In an attempt to critique mass content production for social media, no thought has been used during the creation of any of the drawings. Lines are merely a documentation of where my hands and eyes have been; traces of a mind taken captive by the music and hands responding in return.
